There are also a number of other public bodies that produce useful data and analyses on the labour market. The resources below may be of use in the planning and development of academic programmes.

The (opens in a new window)Expert Group on Future Skills Needs (EGFSN) advises the Irish Government on current and future skills needs of the economy and on other labour market issues that impact on Ireland’s enterprise and employment growth. The Group regularly produces useful reports on the Irish labour market and various ‘in demand’ skill areas.

(opens in a new window)IDA Ireland provides information on the Irish economy for companies overseas looking to invest abroad. Amongst other items of interest, the website provides an overview of growth sectors in Ireland.

The (opens in a new window)Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation have a number of useful publications available on their website, which  include a directory of research centres, technology centres and progress reports on the Action Plan for Jobs.

(opens in a new window)Enterprise Ireland is the government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets, supporting sustainable economic growth, regional development and secure employment. Enterprise Ireland publishes a variety of sector directories and reports.

  • how suitable further education programmes are to labour market needs
  • how youth labour market participation has changed since the recession
  • the determinants and implications of skill mismatches in Europe
