Tobias completed his diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart in 2004, where he developed a keen interest in data models and applied computer science. Following his graduation, he gained valuable industry experience by working for an HVAC design firm in Finland. He then pursued a doctorate at Stanford University, focusing on comparing measurement and simulation data to assess building energy performance. His time in California introduced him to open BIM, emphasizing collaborative building design.
Before joining the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg in June 2022, he worked as a software developer, data engineer, and energy engineer at an American software company. He also contributed to several research projects, such as serving as a technical project subtask leader in the Annex 60 project, as well as the H2020 project NewTrend. At Augsburg, he mainly contributes to the "Digital Master Builder" program, which integrates digital skills with architecture and engineering.
