BSc Financial Economics
BSc Financial Economics
Course Information
Financial Economics is a rigorous and analytically demanding degree programme that gives students a solid understanding of the financial decision-making processes that shape the world around us. From regular people making decisions about what to do with their time or what to spend their money on, to business executives deciding which products to sell and how many people to hire, to government ministers setting tax levels and providing public services, economic decisions are everywhere. The programme places a strong emphasis on financial economics, helping students understand how financial markets operate, how firms make investment decisions, and how broader economic forces, such as globalisation, technological change, international recessions, and banking crises, affect the economy and people’s lives.
The programme is rigorous in developing students' analytical and quantitative skills, preparing them to think critically about complex financial and economic issues. Whether students choose to pursue further studies in economics or finance, or enter the private or public sector, this degree provides a strong foundation for a wide range of careers in finance, consulting, policymaking, and beyond. An advantage of this programme is that during the first two years of instruction, students receive twice as much English language exposure as is currently required by the Chinese educational system. Admission to the BDIC BSc Financial Economics degree is competitive and requires excellent English proficiency.
