(opens in a new window)Dr Arjun Pakrashi and (opens in a new window)Dr Soumyabrata Dev, from the Beijing-Dublin International College (BDIC) at the School of Computer Science, University College Dublin, attended the 18th IEEE International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, BioMedical Engineering, and Informatics (CISP-BMEI 2025), held from October 25 to 27 in Qingdao, China.

Their collaborative research with all co-authors explored themes at the intersection of artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, and intelligent systems. The presented works addressed diverse challenges: from spectral image translation and greenhouse-gas forecasting to rainfall prediction, 3D glacier reconstruction, and efficient video recognition.

Together, these studies advance UCD's vision of digital innovation for a sustainable and globally connected future, showcasing how AI and data-driven methods can support environmental monitoring and decision-making. The participation of UCD's researchers at this prestigious IEEE forum highlights the university's continued engagement in international collaboration and interdisciplinary research that bridges computing, climate science, and real-world impact.
