TRAPDOOR Dance Artist in Residency Scheme 2025/26
The Trapdoor Dance Artist in Residency Scheme is now open for applications for 2025/26.
This residency is aimed at supporting a dance artist in need of studio space and with an interest in connecting with UCD’s School of Art History & Cultural Policy, Creative Futures Academy, and Ad Astra Academy to test and develop concepts and materials towards the creation of new work.
The first residency holder in 2024 was dance artist, choreographer and creative producer, Justine Doswell. Speaking about her time as Dance Artist in Residence, Justine said:
The TRAPDOOR residency provided a rare and invaluable opportunity to pause, reflect, and explore new ideas without the pressure of producing a finished outcome. With access to state-of-the-art facilities and the support of the UCD team and DLR Arts office, I was able to recalibrate creatively and begin a new line of research. The support I received during this time was not only generous but genuinely transformative.
This residency is supported by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Arts Office, UCD School of Art History & Cultural Policy and Creative Futures Academy, in association with UCD Ad Astra Academy.
