Self-Sourced Internships
Self-Sourced Internships
Students may opt to source their own internships with hosts outside of the list of pre-approved internship providers listed in the Internships listing on (opens in a new window)MyCareer. However, all self-sourced internships must have the approval of the Governing Board. As a first step, students should contact the Internship & Employability Manager, at (opens in a new window)artshumanities.internships@ucd.ie, if they wish to self-source with a company. This is important: it is vital to communicate your intentions with the Internship & Employability Manager to know if there is already an internship being negotiated with the hosts to which you are applying.
It is important that self-sourced internships meet the Learning Outcomes of the Academic Internship module.
To submit an application for a self-sourced internship to the Governing Board, students should complete all sections of the application form and upload their job description and official offer letter from their host company. To receive the link to the form please email (opens in a new window)artshumanities.internships@ucd.ie
The host's offer letter must include the following information:
Internship Role Title or general description of the internship position
Start and End Date Specific duration of the internship (must align with the trimester it applies to) and be a minimum of 12 week
Students intending to self-source an internship, must submit their supporting documentation for approval by the Governing Board by the end of the previous trimester.
