Born at Dangan, County Roscommon, an Irish language activist and a member of the IRB, he served as a Cumann Na nGaedheal TD for Roscommon, 1923–33, and a member of the Seanad, 1938–43. A rate collector for Dublin Corporation, he later established his own business as an auctioneer and estate agent.
These papers were originally part of the John O'Beirne Ranelagh Papers (P96) which were deposited in UCD Archives in 1990.
