Biographical History
Brian Barrett was a journalist with Independent Newspapers. Barrett came into frequent contact with Eamon De Valera through political reporting for the Irish Independent, therefore the majority of photographs in this collection feature De Valera.
Archival History
The presence of the De Valera Papers in the Franciscan Library Killiney was, it is safe to presume, the incentive for Barrett to deposit his collection there. The collection was transferred to UCD Archives in July 1997 with the other non-Franciscan private paper collections in the Franciscan Library Killiney as part of the OFM-UCD partnership agreement.
