Why would you take some of Agile's training
UCD Agile provides training in two key areas: Lean Training and Distributed Office ('DO' sessions). You'll find information on our Distributed Office sessions here.
Lean Training
Lean process enhancement and design methodology is a practical approach to improving processes, increasing 'customer' satisfaction, reducing wasted time/effort/resources, building sustainability.
If you are not quite sure how all of this is relevant to you, our introductory training session will give you an overview of Agile and Lean and a sense of how you might make use of what these make possible.
Beyond this introduction, training works best when it is a means to an end - you want to achieve something in your local area and the training will help you achieve that. Training ‘sticks’ better if is being put to practical use when you go back to base after your time in the classroom. Training can stick best if you are part of a team taking the training and putting it to direct use together.
UCD staff can book a place on one of our upcoming remote training days through the (opens in a new window)booking centre in InfoHub.
Types of training and sequencing
There are a number of different levels of Lean training available. Agile partners with an external training company which provides Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Lean Champion and Lean Operations training. Our DO: Lean series (run by UCD Agile) offers short, one-hour introductory sessions to the key Lean concepts. UCD Agile also provides Remit Mapping and Lean Practitioner training.
When looking at where you might start, the main question is what you want to get out of it - that will help you choose.
If you have any questions on what you might take, please contact us to discuss what training makes the most sense for you.
Our training offering:
While working remotely our training will be delivered virtually. Training times and delivery mode have changed but we aim to provide you with the same learning outcomes. See our training offering below to discover your e-learning options.
(opens in a new window)DO Lean
Our new DO Lean series is part of our Distributed Office (DO) suite of training and replaces our previous Fundamentals of Lean/White Belt. The series will provide a practical introduction to Lean thinking, a starting point for your journey towards developing a continuous improvement mindset where you develop the ability to find ways to improve value and efficiency in how you work.
Yellow Belt
This training provides more in-depth exploration of Lean Six Sigma concept and key tools in a project context.
Lean Practitioner
This workshop is a recognition for Yellow Belts. Trainees deamonstrate that they put learning into practice – through writing up and submitting an example.
Green Belt
This course will enable participants to demonstrate the training learning outcomes by delivering a substantial process improvement project.
Note: Lean Operations and Remit Mapping are aimed at those whose role might be described as 'team lead' - those responsible for a number of colleagues in delivering some 'businesses' in a shared or team context.
Remit Mapping
A new way to explore and map out the ‘now’ of a team, helping team leads build their operations map before they look at changes they might make.
Training for team leads in how to use remit mapping
