Ag Soc Cheque 2022
UCD AgSoc gifts €60,000 to chosen charities
Charities have received €60,000 following fundraising efforts by UCD’s Agricultural Science Society (AgSoc).
The large sum was raised through a range fund-raising events organised by the committee and auditor of the society Shauna Jager.
"All of us at Ag Soc want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone for all of your support throughout the year. It is thanks to all the students, staff and committee that this was made possible and that we raised €60,000 for our two charities (opens in a new window)@hooves4hospice & (opens in a new window)@CommunityAirAmb"
Two cheques totalling €30,000 each were presented to representatives from (opens in a new window)Hooves 4 Hospice and the (opens in a new window)Irish Community Air Ambulance by AgSoc members outside the UCD Agriculture and Food Science Centre.
Hooves 4 Hospice is a fundraising project looking to raise enough money to fund the cost of building a much needed Midland Regional Hospice.
The Irish Community Air Ambulance is Ireland’s only charity funded Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). Launched in July 2019, it provides year-round transport and care to critically ill and injured patients, brining them to the hospital that best suits their needs.
First established in 1923, AgSoc is one of the largest societies at University College Dublin and has a long history of donating substantial sums to worthy causes.
Since 2017, its members have helped raise over €250,000 for charities and good causes.
