Welcome to the UCD Academic Advising Pilot

Starting September 2024, academic advising has been piloted in a number of school across the university. Year two of the pilot begins in September 2025. This website is specifically designed for students in the pilot to help you make the most of this new initiative. Explore the following pages to understand what to expect and how you can benefit:

Which Students are Included in the Pilot?

Academic advising is being piloted with undergraduate students in certain stages in the following schools for the academic year 2025-26:

  • School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science - stages 3 and 4 (Senior Academic Advisor - Professor Geraldine Butler)
  • School of Chemistry - - stages 3 and 4 (Senior Academic Advisor - Associate Professor Robert Johnson)
  • School of Earth Sciences - stages 3 and 4 (Senior Academic Advisor - Dr Lawrence Amy)
  • School of History - stage 1 (Senior Academic Advisor - Dr Sandra Scanlon)
  • School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore - stages 1 and 2 (Senior Academic Advisor - Associate Professor Fangzhe Qui)
  • School of Law - stages 1 and 2 (Senior Academic Advisor - Associate Professor Tj McIntyre)
  • School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems - stages 1 and 2 (Senior Academic Advisor - Dr Michael Connolly)
  • School of Psychology - stages 1 and 2 (Associate Professor Ciara Greene)
  • School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science (BSc Sport, Health and Exercise Science) - Stage 1 (Senior Academic Advisor - Dr Sinead Holden)

If your school and stage are included in the academic advising pilot, you will receive an email telling you what to do.
