CMAP, The Complete Mass Spectrometry Resource
Just a year and half after receiving €2.68 million in Science Foundation Ireland infrastructure funding, SBI’s Comprehensive Molecular Analysis Platform (CMAP) at UCD is fully operational. The program has recently launched a new webpage featuring details about the instruments, facilities and booking process.
Ultimately, CMAP is a mass spectrometry analytical platform for proteomic, metabolomic and chemical analysis which caters for academic and industry research within Ireland and beyond. CMAP provides national access to new cutting-edge analytical tools which are vital to research in priority areas such as the bioeconomy, pharmaceutical chemistry, agri-foods, ‘smart’ foods, and precision nutrition/precision medicine.
The platform is comprised of 5 mass spectrometer types.
- Bruker timsTOF Pro mass spectrometers x 2, (Priority Application, Proteomics).
- SCIEX QTRAP 6500plus mass spectrometer x 1, (Priority Application, Metabolomics).
Location: UCD Conway Mass Spectrometry Core Facility.

“CMAP`s new technology provides a national mass spectrometry platform with the speed, sensitivity, precision and flexibility to customise analytical workflows," said Kieran Wynne, CMAP Infrastructure manager. "We now have the analytical tools to support our world class researchers in proteomic, metabolomic, lipidomic and chemical analysis. The real gamechanger is the possibility of using these multi-omics approaches in combination.”
