Awards Success for SBI
A busy day at two awards ceremonies at the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin saw SBI receive recognition for its education, outreach and collaborative activities.
The Irish Laboratory Awards recognise the successes and achievements of Ireland's internationally renowned scientists in areas including innovation, leadership and collaboration and focus on the ongoing work of Irish scientists to grow and develop a sustainable, globally competitive science research. SBI was represented by Dr Dirk Fey, Dr Melinda Halasz, Dr Eadaoin McKiernan and Aine Moore, with the team collecting the Collaboration Achievement Award and the Education Laboratory of the Year Award.
Later that evening, the inaugural Education Awards, initiated to recognise, encourage and celebrate excellence in the third level education sector on the island of Ireland from both State and privately funded institutions, saw members of the SBI Amgen Biotech Experience team Elaine Quinn, Robert Schwamborn and Tara O'Connor collect the accolade for Best Education Outreach. This was a great achievement in a very competitive category, including seven other innovative programmes involving students and the public in science, the environment and design - well done Elaine, Robert and Tara!
